Reclaiming Your Time

By now I'm sure you have seen the video of Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), reclaiming her time!  If not take a look!

I was so tickled to hear Auntie Maxine (she just reminds me of my auntie) reclaim her time.  Our time is a great value and we need to make sure it is used efficiently.

Your Time and how to Reclaim it

I plan out my week every Sunday by assessing everything I need to accomplish in the upcoming week. This works best for me because I have a good idea of what and where I need to focus.  Adding a little bit of structure to your calendar can help you gain control over your time throughout the week. Even though I love technology and my Google Calendar, I still use a planner to keep me sane.  An example of that is I know that my local networking event will require about 3 hours of my time.  This event is held on the first Monday of the month. Since Mondays can be a bit crazy anyway, this particular Monday is always busy for me because it requires me to spend a good deal of time outside of the office. In an effort to make the most of my time, I try to schedule any meetings on the same side of town as my event.

Sorry I Have to Work

There is always a networking event, class or webinar going on. I would love to attend them all but I cant.   Instead, I look for the webinars that are recorded so that I can listen to them at my leisure.  I sat a two-event limit just so that I can keep up with work, etc.
