Chromebook Review

As a business owner, I'm always looking for different ways to make my work easier. One of the things I look at is technology. I use a PC and MacBook in my office daily. I am also mobile throughout the week and I needed something that would be lightweight, easy to handle and had great battery life. Awhile back I ran across an article that talked about the Chromebook OS and it piqued my interest in the Chromebook. The Chromebook would replace my old trusty Toshiba netbook, which holds a 10 hour battery life. Yes, I still own and use a netbook. I've been a Gmail user for years and I really like how it has simplified my email process. I figure I would give the Chromebook a try.

Chromebooks are not like your traditional laptops. Traditional laptops have a hard drive for storage, fans and CD/DVD drive etc. Chromebooks has none of that because storage is in the cloud/Google Drive. After reviewing the different versions of Chromebooks and playing with them in Best Buy, I decided on the Samsung Chromebook for $249 because of the battery life and the fact that it is so lightweight. Since I already have a MiFi, the 3G or LTE was not important to me. I purchased the Samsung Chromebook from Amazon and had it delivered the next day.

For the past two months, I have used the Samsung Chromebook non stop and I must say that I am very impressed with it. It is a perfect fit for my office and works great for me while traveling. It fits in my go bag like a glove.

The Chromebook is just over 2.4 pounds, 0.7 inches thin and delivers 6.5 hours of battery life.

Other Specification are:

Google has 5 different versions of the Chromebook.

The Samsung Chromebook $249 (WiFi), $329 (3G) The Acer C7 Chromebook $199 The HP Pavillion Chromebook $329.99 Chromebook Pixel $1299 (WiFi), $1499 (LTE) The Samsung ChromeBook 550 $449

You can learn about the different versions at Google Chromebook Devices and Chromebooks are available to buy online from Amazon, Best Buy and Google Play. You can also find them at Best Buy.

No need to worry about viruses or malware because Google has taken care of all that for you. The system updates automatically when a new update is available. I'm loving this feature. All of the Google apps like Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Plus comes preloaded on the Chromebook.

Need to go offline because WiFi is down? Absolutely no problem. You can work offline and still use Gmail and Google Drive. The best feature of all is that there are no fans! Yes, that's right, there are no fan and everything is nice and quiet.

To start the Chromebook you simply open it up and it starts by itself in seconds. Now my netbook can't do that. The sound is good for a computer this size and the keyboard is very comfortable.

In my opinion, there is one downside to the Chromebook and it is the size of the mouse cursor. I wish there was a way to increase the size of it. At first, it was a bit of a challenge for my more mature eyes. But thanks to my computer glasses, everything have been smooth sailing.

If you are looking for a change from your old netbook consider a Chromebook. I'm really enjoying mine and I suppose if you purchased one, you will too. It is truly one of the best investments I have ever made.

One more thing, I suggest you buy a second cord for your Chromebook. That way you can keep one in your computer bag and leave the other one at home. You can get an extra cord for the Chromebook on Amazon or at your local Best Buy.
